Kearney County Economic Development Agency was formed in 2004 through coordinating with the communities of Kearney County and their chambers. The need for a unified countywide economic development organization was pursued by Rod Young of the Axtell area Chamber of Commerce and Dena Beck of the Minden Chamber of Commerce. The group initially met with Linda Fettig of the Department of Economic Development, Randy Gunn of South Central RC&D, the Minden City Council, village boards and with Kearney County. It took about one year for the group to take shape once the Kearney County Industrial Development Corporation was dissolved. The organization was started to help start and improve businesses. The 1st loan was awarded to Town and County Service. Since then KCEDA has awarded 12 loans around the county, helping to stat businesses and provide improvements.
